Charitable Grants Program Awards Funds to Indianapolis Nonprofits Addressing Recidivism

Annual Charitable Grants program awards one-time, unrestricted grants

As part of our annual Charitable Grants program, the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation is pleased to announce we are awarding one-time grants to six Indianapolis nonprofit organizations addressing recidivism . This year’s recipients are:

Since 2021, the Fairbanks Foundation has awarded what we call Charitable Grants – one-time, $25,000 grants to Indianapolis nonprofits doing work that aligns with a funding theme reflecting the city’s most pressing needs. The Charitable Grants program honors the legacy of Dick Fairbanks’ interest in making small, unrestricted grants to organizations where these funds can make a significant impact.

This year’s funding theme, recidivism, has been identified by Indianapolis city and community leaders as an ongoing issue. According to the Indiana Department of Correction, nearly 35% of adult offenders released in 2020 were recommitted to the IDOC within just three years.

The reentry population faces complex challenges in the areas of health, housing, employment, and social and family support. Access to services in each of these areas is critical to preventing recidivism and fostering successful reintegration. The Fairbanks Foundation is pleased to support these organizations as they continue their impactful work.
