We collected data over the last decade for Marion County to measure community well-being across our core focus areas. In most cases, these data are from 2010-2020, with some exceptions due to limited data availability. Wherever possible, the data have been disaggregated by age, gender, income, race and ethnicity. The number of Marion County high school graduates passing AP exams grew to 1 in 5 in 2018.

That’s double the 1 in 10 who passed in 2010.

The homicide rate in Marion County grew by 47% since 2010.

The Black community is especially impacted, with more than double the overall homicide rate.

Median earnings in Marion County rose by 33% since 2010.

However, the gender pay gap grew by 49%.

Nearly 1 in 5 Hoosiers smokes.

In 2017, the Marion County smoking rate was 19%.


In 2018-19, just 29% of Marion County 8th-graders passed the state math exam.
